Explosion at Scrap Metal Collection Point Claims Two Lives in Lviv Region
Two people were killed and another person was injured as a result of an explosion at a scrap metal collection point in Yavoriv district, Lviv region, Ukraine. The tragic incident was reported by the police of Lviv region on Facebook.
According to law enforcement officers, a 58-year-old resident and her 54-year-old neighbor brought metal objects to the collection point in the village of Stary Yar on April 24. An explosion occurred during the weighing process, resulting in the death of the man who brought the scrap metal and the collection point owner. The woman accompanying them sustained injuries and is currently hospitalized.
The police are actively investigating the cause of the explosion, with a team of investigators, explosives experts, and criminal police officers working at the scene. A criminal case has been opened under Article 264 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which deals with careless storage of firearms or ammunition. The punishment for this offense includes up to three years of imprisonment or deprivation of liberty for the same term.
