Drug Dealers on Trial: Transcarpathians Sold Methamphetamine on the Black Market

The Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor’s Office Sends Four Residents to Court for Illegal Drug Activities

The Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor’s Office has decided to send to court an indictment against four residents of the Uzhgorod region for the illegal acquisition, storage, and sale of psychotropic substances as part of an organized group.

According to preliminary data from law enforcement officers, individuals in the region were purchasing wholesale quantities of methamphetamine and selling it to the population retail. They stored the drugs in their homes, weighed and packaged them, preparing them for further distribution.

In February of this year, the illegal activities of these individuals were uncovered and stopped. During authorized searches in their homes and vehicles, approximately 300 grams of methamphetamine were seized, the value of which on the black market exceeds half a million hryvnias.

A significant quantity of packaging bags, electronic scales, mobile phones, bank cards, and money were also found. The organizer of the illegal activities, a 31-year-old Transcarpathian, has already been placed in custody as a preventive measure. Three of his accomplices have been arrested with a bail amount set.

The individuals involved could face up to 12 years in prison with property confiscation.
