The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopts bill to assist in finding missing Ukrainians

National deputy Iryna Gerashchenko highlighted the tragedy of over 52,000 missing persons since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, emphasizing the impact on Ukrainian families.

Key provisions of the bill:

  1. Coordination of search operations: Clear definition of powers for state authorities, including the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Coordination Staff for Prisoners of War.

  2. Repatriation of bodies: Establishment of a procedure for repatriating the deceased from occupied territories.

  3. Support for negotiations: Coordination Staff can negotiate with humanitarian missions in occupied territories.

Bill No. 11093 was adopted with the support of 248 members of parliament.
