Government expands circle of beneficiaries of financial assistance in case of death of servicemen

The Ukrainian government has expanded the range of people who can receive a one-time monetary aid in case of a military serviceman’s death. This was announced by Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets through Telegram.

According to the new rules, the right to receive one-time monetary aid will be granted to:

— women or men who lived with a military serviceman without an official registered marriage;

— grandchildren of the deceased military serviceman if their parents have passed away;

— children born after the death of the military serviceman.

Additionally, Lubinets noted that the government has established a procedure for the distribution of shares of financial aid in case one of the heirs refuses to accept it. It was also stipulated that minors, children of the deceased person, and individuals with limited legal capacity are prohibited from refusing to be appointed and receive financial aid on their behalf.
