The Odessa region and its cooperation in the field of energy
The Odessa region is actively engaging with international partners in the energy sector. Currently, negotiations are in progress with Turkey to connect megawatt ships to key Black Sea ports and the Danube.
During a press briefing, Oleg Kiper, the head of the Odessa Regional State Administration, revealed that the ports of Odessa, Yuzhny, and Izmail could potentially accommodate ships with a capacity of 250 megawatts.
«We are exploring the possibility of establishing three such connections to meet the energy needs of multiple districts in the city. These ships will be powered by both diesel fuel and gas,» explained Kiper.
However, challenges exist, as the Turkish side requires full protection for the ships against possible attacks from the Russian Federation in order to proceed with the agreement.
