Ukraine has the right to attack the Crimean Bridge — ISW

The Situation with the Kerch Strait Bridge

According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the 13-kilometer section of the bridge across the Kerch Strait, located within the internationally recognized territorial waters of Ukraine, remains under the control of Russia’s occupying forces. ISW analysts emphasize that current US policy allows Ukraine to use its Western-provided weapons to strike at any point of the Russian-occupied territory, including the potential use of long-range anti-aircraft missile systems against parts of the Crimean bridge within Ukraine’s borders.

«The US policy allows Ukrainian forces to strike at a section of the bridge across the Kerch Strait located within Ukrainian territorial waters,» ISW analysts highlight. Pentagon spokesman Major Charlie Dietz also confirmed on June 24 that «Ukraine has the right to independently determine its military actions and targeting.»

ISW assessments suggest that the Crimean bridge, built by the illegal occupying authorities, remains a potential target for military action by Ukraine, as it could use its armed forces to defend its territorial rights if necessary.
