Deception Uncovered in Odessa
Police in Odessa have uncovered cases of deception involving an executive service inspector and a former prosecutor’s office employee who sought to extract significant funds from a local resident.
The National Police Department of the Odessa region reported that the two criminals devised a scheme offering citizens assistance in securing employment in law enforcement agencies for money.
For example, for a position in one of the district prosecutor’s offices in the Odessa region, the fraudsters demanded $35,000. The executive service inspector was apprehended after receiving the promised amount from the «candidate».
Both suspects have been charged with attempted fraud and incitement to provide illegal benefits. They are currently in custody and face up to 10 years in prison.
The capital of the Odessa region witnessed fraud in relation to the position of the head of the regional state administration, which was offered for $600,000. Under the guise of influencing officials, the scammers lured $200,000 from a local resident.
