Currency Market Update in Ukraine by RBC-Ukraine Financial Editor Ruslan Kyslyak

Hryvnia Exchange Rate Update

After reaching course peaks at the end of March and beginning of April, the hryvnia has shown a slight strengthening over the past week. For example, on April 3, the official exchange rate of the hryvnia to the US dollar reached 39.32. A week before that, on March 27, the rate exceeded 39.34 per dollar. However, since April 8, the hryvnia has been holding below the psychologically important level of 39.

The main factors affecting the hryvnia exchange rate remain quite stable. Among them, international and domestic political events, external economic factors, as well as decisions of the National Bank of Ukraine regarding monetary policy can be noted.

Forecasts for the next few months remain uncertain and depend on many factors, including the geopolitical situation, external economic conditions, and the reaction of the National Bank to changes. It is also important to consider possible risks and instabilities that may arise due to changes in the international markets and domestic policy.
