A priest of the Sviatohirsk Holy Dormition Lavra detained for disclosing military information
A priest of the Sviatohirsk Holy Dormition Lavra of the UOC MP has been taken into custody for disclosing information about the locations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during a sermon. This was reported by the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
«In September 2023, the abbot of the Sviatohirsk Holy Dormition Lavra of the UOC MP disseminated military information,» the statement said.
The Prosecutor’s Office noted that during his sermon, he informed the parishioners about the locations of checkpoints and units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Police, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the territory of the Sviatohirsk city community.
At the request of the prosecutors of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a preventive measure in the form of detention without the possibility of bail was chosen for a native of the Republic of Karelia, Russian Federation, who is reasonably suspected of unauthorized dissemination of information about the locations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (part 2 of article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
