Tragic Road Traffic Accident in Troitske Village
Today, on June 30, at around 4:00 pm, a road traffic accident occurred on one of the streets of the village of Troitske in the Odessa region. This was reported by the Odessa Regional Police Department No. 2.
According to preliminary data, a 25-year-old VAZ car driver lost control due to speeding and swerved into the oncoming lane, where he collided with a 65-year-old cyclist. The man on the bike suffered fatal injuries.
Police checked the driver for alcohol in his blood. The results showed that the alcohol level exceeded the permissible norm by almost four times.
At the scene, a rapid response team of the patrol police and an investigative-operational group of the Odessa Regional Police Department No. 2 are working.
An investigation is underway regarding the accident, including the possibility of entering information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Part 3 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which relates to the violation of road safety rules or vehicle operation by a person driving under the influence. The driver faces punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to ten years and deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for the same period.
