The drug control department in Ternopil region catches an organized drug distribution group
The operatives of the drug control department in the Ternopil region have caught an organized group that was engaged in large-scale distribution of drugs through the Internet. Over the course of a month, the criminals sold about 2000 doses of narcotics and psychotropic substances.
Operations and arrests lead to significant seizures
«We have found out that the mastermind of the drug business started his operation from one store in a Telegram channel, and later expanded the network by involving additional individuals,» said the chief of the drug control department, Mykhailo Dymydi.
On June 27, with the efforts of the drug control department, together with the special police force KORD, 17 searches were conducted in the premises and vehicles of the suspects. As a result, nearly half a kilogram of cannabis and 200 grams of the psychotropic substance «PVP» were seized, as well as a car, money, mobile phones, and other evidence of criminal activity. The estimated value of the confiscated illegal substances and property of the suspects is almost 2 million hryvnias.
Legal actions taken against the criminals
The organizer and his accomplices have been charged under Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and preventive measures in the form of detention without the right to bail have been chosen.
«The police continue the investigation aimed at identifying all members of the criminal group and the ways of drug supply to Ternopil,» added the communication department of the regional police.
