RBC-Ukraine reports that Ukrainian tennis players Lyudmyla and Nadiia Kichenok suffered a defeat in the doubles final of the South Carolina competition against Americans Ashley Krueger and Sloane Stephens.
At the Charleston Open tournament, the Kichenok twins started the match strongly, taking four games in a row and closing the set in 25 minutes. However, the second set belonged to the Americans, who managed to retaliate by winning three games straight after the start. In the deciding set, the Ukrainian tennis players initially trailed 1:5, but then closed in on their opponents to 7:8, but were unable to make a comeback. In the end, Krueger and Stephens took the trophy, winning with a score of 2:1.
This is already the ninth final at the WTA level for the Kichenok twins, who have previously won 5 trophies. The pair’s last victory was at the Tallinn Open in 2022.
