Theft Suspect Detained in Chernihiv
The criminal police of the Chernihiv district detained a 27-year-old man suspected of a series of thefts from local businesses. This was reported by the press service of the Chernihiv district police.
Over the past month, several complaints have been received by the police about thefts from enterprises in Chernihiv.
At one of the sites, the perpetrator broke into the boiler room through a window and stole industrial equipment. Another incident occurred late at night when the thief broke into a car wash through a window and stole computer and office equipment. That same night, he also stole equipment for air conditioners from a car maintenance station.
After a series of investigative actions, the police identified the 27-year-old man, who had previously been convicted of similar crimes, as being involved in these thefts. He confessed to the crimes and provided truthful testimony.
The police investigator, under the procedural guidance of the Chernihiv District Prosecutor’s Office, informed the man of the suspicion of committing thefts during a state of war or emergency (part 4 of article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He faces five to eight years in prison for this crime.
