Young Man Injured Trying to Disassemble Anti-Aircraft Shell

A 22-year-old resident of Odessa sustained shrapnel wounds to his hands, forearms, and chest while trying to disassemble an anti-aircraft shell at his home.

According to police, the incident occurred on the night of April 11-12. The young man found an unexploded ordnance on the seaside slope and decided to bring it home. In his apartment, he began to disassemble the shell, which detonated right in his hands as a result.

The injured man sought medical help on his own. Fortunately, the injuries turned out not to be very serious. He received the necessary medical assistance and was then discharged home.

Warning from Police

Police once again warn of the danger posed by explosive devices and urge people not to attempt to dismantle them on their own, but to report such findings to the specialized services.
