France outlines peace conditions in the Middle East in talks with Israeli Prime Minister

French Minister of Foreign Affairs meets with Israeli Prime Minister to discuss peace in the Middle East

French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Stephane Sjourne, met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the conditions for establishing peace in the Middle East. This information was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing Sjourne’s post on the social network X.

France emphasizes balanced policy in the region

Sjourne emphasized that France’s policy in the region remains balanced and unchanged. He put forward conditions for achieving peace, including the release of hostages, signing a ceasefire agreement, and starting de-escalation in Lebanon.

Hostage situation remains a key issue

Hamas terrorists took 250 Israelis and foreigners hostage during the invasion of Israel in October 2023. Despite the release of some hostages following previous negotiations, reaching an agreement on the remaining hostages remains an important task.

US, Egypt, and Qatar present new peace plan

In January, the United States, Egypt, and Qatar presented a new peace plan, which included the release of hostages and a cessation of hostilities by Israel. However, the Israeli government warned Hamas of the possibility of a military operation in case of disagreement with the conditions. France and the United States have expressed opposition to such actions, fearing a humanitarian catastrophe in the region.
