Germany considers allocating an additional 4 billion euros for military support to Ukraine

Germany’s Defense Minister Calls for Additional Funding to Support Ukraine’s Military

Germany’s Defense Minister, Boris Pistorius, has expressed the need for additional funding in the amount of four billion euros to support Ukraine’s military needs in the second half of 2024. This funding will be used for the purchase of ammunition, equipment, and new batches of Leopard 1A tanks.

Significant Financial Support Already Provided

According to reports, Germany has already allocated a significant amount of money to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2024. However, there is only 200 thousand euros left in reserves for further orders. This highlights the necessity of additional funding to ensure military assistance in the future.

Active Role in Supporting Ukraine’s Defense Capabilities

Germany is also actively exporting weapons to Ukraine, issuing export permits totaling around 5.2 billion euros in the first quarter of 2024, with a significant portion destined for Ukraine. In the latest news, on July 8, Germany handed over a new package of military aid to Ukraine, including the Patriot missile defense system and other military equipment. These steps indicate that Germany is playing an active role in supporting Ukraine’s defense capabilities in the face of its conflict with Russia, providing significant military assistance and support.
