Head of the GPU warns of escalation in the north of the country

Kirill Budanov on Russia’s Plans for New Front in North of Ukraine

Kirill Budanov, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, has confirmed that Russia intends to open a new front in the north of Ukraine. He spoke about a possible escalation of the situation in this region.

«We are observing increasing difficulties that could lead to a worsening situation on the northern border of our country,» said Budanov.

He also noted that earlier there were reports in the media about a possible mobilization by Russia of up to 300,000 new soldiers in order to create new hotspots of tension on the front.

«The Kremlin’s goal remains unchanged — an attempt to establish control over the Luhansk and Donetsk regions. Our task is to preserve and protect our territorial integrity to the maximum,» he emphasized.

Kirill Budanov urged citizens not to panic and to trust the information coming from his department.

«The situation, unfortunately, is serious, and we need to be cautious and ready for possible events,» he added.
