Knife conflict fueled by alcohol: 18-year-old offender faces up to eight years in prison

An 18-year-old young man was arrested in Odessa for stabbing a 34-year-old man after he refused to buy alcohol.

The incident

The incident took place on Dobrovolsky Avenue, where a group of intoxicated teenagers who were unable to purchase alcohol at a store approached strangers asking for help. After another refusal, an argument broke out between the parties, during which one of the teenagers pulled out a knife and stabbed the man in the stomach.

Arrest

After committing the crime, the attacker tried to flee but was detained by witnesses. Law enforcement officers informed him of suspicion under Article 121 Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The issue of choosing a preventive measure is currently being resolved. If guilt is proven, the young man could face five to eight years in prison.
