The new season of cycling competitions in Odessa
The new season of cycling competitions has started in Odessa, which began with an individual race on April 6 on a section of the Kyiv track, followed by the traditional group race «Memorial Utochkin» on April 7.
Competition Highlights
Over thirty athletes competed in three age categories on different distances. Racers aged 19 to 39 and 40 to 59 had to cover 45 kilometers, while veterans aged sixty plus had a 30-kilometer route.
The competition took place in Shevchenko Park with the start and finish on Marazliivska Street. Despite some alarming moments, including falls and flat tires, there were fortunately no serious injuries.
Winners and Celebrations
Two athletes crossed the finish line almost simultaneously in their respective age groups, with Oleksiy Koretsky and Andrii Hladii emerging victorious. The veterans category was won by Oleh Ivankov.
The athletes decided not to celebrate their victory with champagne this time, in respect for the current situation affected by the war.
