Patrol officer in Odesa detained for soliciting a bribe from a drunk driver

In Odessa, Senior Inspector of Patrol Police Caught Accepting Bribe

In Odessa, operatives of the Security Service of Ukraine have detained a senior inspector of the patrol police who was caught demanding a bribe from a driver caught drunk driving.

According to the regional SBU office, the arrest took place immediately after the patrol officer received a bribe of $3,500. For this money, he promised to destroy the administrative protocol drawn up by his colleagues against the intoxicated driver.

Previous cases of corrupt behavior have been uncovered during the investigation involving this patrol officer.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for punishment for demanding unlawful benefits. The detainee faces up to eight years of imprisonment and is currently being held in pre-trial detention.
