Protest in Zaporizhia over Power Outages: Demand to Restore Electricity

Today, on July 19, early in the morning, about 400 people gathered under the walls of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration for a rally due to «unfair power outages». This was reported by the 061 portal.

Concerns Over Electricity Supply

Most of the rally participants are women and elderly people, as well as young people expressing conspiracy theories, claiming that Ukraine exports all electricity abroad, so there is not enough light for the local population.

The participants of the rally stated that they do not have an official organizer or resolution, they only demand to restore electricity supply to their hоmes.

Some of the protesters explained that without gas they cannot cook food, and that electricity is turned off for 15-16 hours a day.

Others, more radical participants of the rally, advocate for a complete disconnection of electricity for everyone, including critical infrastructure.

Despite the fact that the problems with energy supply stem from attacks by the aggressor country, most participants do not mention this aspect.

The protesters demanded a meeting with the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration Ivan Fedorov, although the regional authorities themselves do not have a direct influence on energy supply schedules and electricity generation. After unsuccessful attempts to arrange a meeting, the protesters blocked the road on the central avenue near the Main Post Office, which led to the suspension of public transport and minivans.

Earlier, local and regional authorities urged residents not to support aggressive rhetoric and refrain from participating in such rallies.
