The repair of the North Bridge in Kiev
The repair of the North Bridge in Kiev has begun in order to increase road safety. The Department of Transport Infrastructure explained that the work will be carried out in stages, starting with the first lane in the direction towards the «Pochaina» metro station.
Deputy Director’s explanation
Deputy Director of the Department, Valentin Kulbak, explained that the last major repair of the bridge was carried out in 2005, but the waterproofing layer was not replaced. Experts identified serious defects that threaten the safety of traffic and the reliability of the structure.
Repair work details
The repair work will include replacing part of the bridge deck, repairing expansion joints, as well as installing a new waterproofing layer and asphalt concrete pavement. They will be carried out in stages to ensure the safety of traffic.
