The First Day of Spring Marks a Milestone for Naftogaz Ukraine
The head of Naftogaz Ukraine, Oleksiy Chernishev, took to Facebook to announce a significant achievement on the first day of spring.
«This means that we have passed the winter completely on Ukrainian gas together! Historic event. 10 years ago, nobody would have believed it. 2 years ago, when a full-scale war started, it was also difficult to believe. But we did it and plan to continue supporting Ukraine’s trend towards energy independence. I am proud and grateful to the Ukrainian gas workers who made this possible,» he wrote.
Ukraine on Track for Energy Independence by 2024
In January of this year, Minister of Energy, Herman Halushchenko, stated that Ukraine is close to self-sufficiency in gas by 2024 and may resume electricity exports in the spring.
At the beginning of January, «Ukrgazvydobuvannya» reported a historic milestone — for the first time in history, production from new wells exceeded one billion cubic meters per year. By the end of January, a new powerful gas well had started operating in Ukraine.
