Ukrainian spiritual leaders in Brazil: breakthrough in global perception of conflict

Ukrainian Religious Leaders Advocate Against Russia’s Aggression in Brazil

Ukrainian religious leaders have made a significant step in spreading information during their advocacy mission in Brazil. Priest Rostyslav Vorobiy of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, who took part in the delegation of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches, informed pastors, politicians, and diplomats about Russia’s illegal terrorist aggression against Ukraine.

«In Brazil, we encountered the whole tragedy of our time and shared our own experiences. It was a huge breakthrough. Even in the Senate, one of the senator’s advisors didn’t know that Ukrainians in Kyiv had massed in bomb shelters,» Father Rostyslav said.

He added that the main goal was to highlight the unjust war Russia is waging before pastors from different cities in Brazil. The information quickly spread among believers through religious community messengers.

The reaction of Brazilian politicians was also swift: the Director-General for Europe at the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the speaker of the lower house of parliament expressed a desire to visit Ukraine after meetings with Ukrainian religious leaders.

The priest also shared the impressions of Brazilian spiritual leaders who listened to the horrific stories of persecution of Ukrainian priests and the killing of innocent people, including the children of Pastor Oleksandr Pavlenko from Sloviansk.
