Vorskla Vice-President Oleg Lisak Speaks Out Against Refereeing Decisions
Vorskla vice-president Oleg Lisak expressed his dissatisfaction with the work of referees in the matches of the Poltava team.
«There were mistakes made by the referees that directly affected Vorskla’s results. Of course, everything is in our hands, and believe me, we speak harshly and directly to the players, to the staff. But what can I say to the players when a penalty is awarded in the 85th minute or in the 90+15th minute? It also has an impact. It affected the Ukrainian Cup final as well.
We could have finished this championship in the previous round with a 2-2 score, but things happened as they did. It affected the team’s psychological state before the Cup final. We state the facts. There is a referees’ committee. I still do not understand what is happening, how can it be that we pay for VAR systems, we do everything to help the referees work, but what is happening openly, I do not want to comment on.
All decisions are written. They admit mistakes. So, there are two factors. Either it is done intentionally, or we do not correspond to the positions we hold. I hope for an adequate reaction from the leadership of the Football Federation of Ukraine, because I do not understand how this can be. 90% of the clubs that I have spoken to are also dissatisfied. We understand that the entire professional football in Ukraine is held exclusively by the clubs. We will wait and see how this story develops further.
It all has an impact. How can one objectively assess the team, the players, the coaching staff under such conditions. I state the facts, as described by the referees’ committee.»
