The Scheme for Illegal Timber Sales
The chief engineer of the State Enterprise «Tulchyn Forest Farm» along with two forest masters and two citizens have been accused of creating a scheme for illegal timber sales in order to make unlawful profits, as reported by the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
Criminal Charges
A bill of indictment has been sent to court against the five individuals involved in the embezzlement of state property through abuse of office committed by an organized group.
Unlawful Activity
According to the investigation, in 2021, the group devised a scheme to profit illegally from the sale of timber, selling quality oak disguised as firewood at a fraction of its market value. The financial rewards obtained from this activity were used as income from the sale of lumber produced from illegally acquired timber, causing damage to the state enterprise.
Punishment
The accused individuals face punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of seven to twelve years, with a prohibition on certain positions or activities for up to three years, as well as confiscation of their property.
Earlier, suspicions were reported to the acting director of the state enterprise «Northern Forest» and his accomplices for organizing illegal oak cutting by employees of the State Investigation Bureau.
