Yuriy Ignat explains what enabled Ukraine to shoot down planes

Russians were forced to take risks and fly closer to the front line in Avdiivka, which allowed the Armed Forces of Ukraine to destroy a large number of enemy aircraft. This was announced by Colonel Yuri Ignat, the press officer of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during a broadcast of the Unity News telethon.

Increased Risks for Russian Aviation

He noted that due to constant airstrikes on Avdiivka, Russia had to take risks with its aviation. However, this allowed them to strike a large number of Russian aircraft in this direction.

According to him, the destruction of Russian aircraft also affects the psychology of the occupiers.

«Each plane destroyed and each aviation bomb strike has a serious impact on the front line. You have to understand the terrible consequences when a 500-kilogram bomb drops,» Ignat summarized.

Support from Netherlands, Denmark, and Norway

As we have already reported, the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, named the minimum number of F-16s for Ukraine. In total, his country has 42 such aircraft in its arsenal.

Denmark will also provide 19 fighter jets. The transfer of F-16s was also announced by Norway, which has about 60 such aircraft at its disposal.
